Once each month, all school nurses in McLeod County receive personal products delivered by one of our volunteers (thanks Ralph).
These products are distributed to students by request with no questions asked. When this program was piloted in the Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Middle School in 2016, 5% of the student body asked for supplies. Now the program is available in all McLeod county schools grades 6-12.
Nurses, counselors and staff let students know that products are available. We supply brown paper gift bags with handles for the students to take the supplies or they can simply put them into their backpacks.
If you would like to donate supplies, here is a list of supplies needed: (please provide full size products):
Shampoo and conditioner (men’s and women’s-15 oz bottle)
Bar soap, body wash and hand soap
Deodorants and body spray (men's and women's)
Toothpaste, toothbrushes and dental floss
Maxi-pads and tampons
Hair brushes, combs, hair picks and hair ties
Ethnic hair products (these are harder to find and of course more expensive)
If you have supplies to donate, Ralph Johnson has volunteered to arrange pickup or you can drop them to the Common Cup Ministry Office located at 105 Second Avenue SW, Hutchinson, MN 55350.
If you have any questions or would like Ralph to talk about this program at your church or organization please contact Ralph or Geri Johnson at 320-587-6733 or 320-583-2230 or via email.
The PoPP Program is being coordinated through Common Cup Ministry.
